Proposing marriage is stressful enough, Mother Nature, we don’t need you threatening storms all day to add to the pressure! Mike’s big day started with dark skies, rain and a forecast full of thunderstorms – ugghhh. I always advise that we have a Plan B in case of rain, and I was pretty sure this was to be the first time I was going to need to use a Plan B.
Mike texted to ask if we could still continue with his plan to propose to Amber in Lincoln Park’s beautiful Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool if it was just lightly raining. I apologized but said no, as much as I wanted their proposal to take place in the park, I couldn’t risk damaging the approximately $8k in equipment that would be in use while shooting in the rain. It was still raining as I was driving to Lincoln Park, but just as I was parking it started to lighten up. With some time to spare, I decided to go check out the Lily Pool and discovered that the spot that I would be in to capture the proposal was protected from the rain by large trees. I texted Mike just fifteen minutes before proposal time to say that we were on for Plan A – proposing at the absolutely gorgeous Lily Pool was a go!! And wouldn’t you know it, the rain completely stopped just five minutes before. My Plan A streak continues…
Despite making a joke about being proposed to when Mike whisked her into the park, Amber was completely surprised when she turned to find Mike down on one knee to propose marriage. The smiles, giggles and kisses continued the whole time I was with them and Amber could not stop looking at her beautiful engagement ring. It was such a joy to be a part of their day – their love and happiness was radiant and just made me so very happy too. I’ve said it so many times, but I really do have the best job in the world – it’s so freaking cool to be with people on their happiest days!!
Mike and Amber ~ it was such a pleasure to be with you on such a big day in your life! You are beautiful couple inside and out and are going to be a beautiful bride and groom. I wish you much love, joy and laughter in your lives together as husband and wife.
